Who we are

Book A Terp ("we") provides scheduling, matching, and payment software to interpreting agencies and the interpreters who work with them. Questions: support@bookaterp.com.

What we collect

• Account information: name, email, and, if you choose, a mobile number.
• Interpreter profiles: languages, credentials, service area, availability, and other details interpreters enter.
• Job information entered by agencies and the organizations that request interpreters: dates, places, settings, and the communication needs and interpreter preferences of the people being served.
• Technical information needed to run the service securely: sign-in records, device push tokens, and security logs.

We do not use advertising trackers or sell personal information.

Information we hold for agencies

Job, consumer, and communication-needs information belongs to the agency that entered it. We process it only to provide the service to that agency. It is visible only to that agency's authorized staff, to the organization that supplied it, and, after a job is accepted, to the interpreter assigned to that job. When an agency handles health information, we act as its service provider under a written agreement. Requests about this information should go to the agency first; we will help them respond.

The service is not directed to children. An agency or school may enter information about a minor when arranging services for them; we process it only on their behalf.

How we use information

• To match interpreters to jobs, send offers, and share job details with the interpreter who accepts.
• To send the alerts you choose (in-app, push, email, text).
• To process payments and keep required records.
• To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and meet legal duties.

Who we share it with

• The agencies you work with, as described above.
• Service providers who run parts of the service for us under contract (database hosting, web hosting, email delivery, text messaging, payments). They may use the information only to provide those services.
• Authorities, when the law requires it.

Text messages

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party, except the providers that deliver our messages. See Text message alerts for how to opt in and out.

Security and retention

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, sensitive notes are encrypted again before storage, access is limited by role, and access to sensitive records is logged. We keep information while an account is active and as long as agencies need it to meet their legal and contractual record-keeping duties, then delete or de-identify it.

Your choices

You can update your profile and alert settings at any time, turn texts off by replying STOP, and ask us for a copy of your information, a correction, or deletion of your account by emailing support@bookaterp.com. Some records must be kept by law or by the agencies you worked with.

Changes

If we make important changes, we will update the date above and tell account holders by email or in the app.
